Practice Policy

Purpose

This policy explains how we run sessions at Oakwhittle Studio. It helps set expectations so your time at the bench is steady, safe and useful.

Booking and rescheduling

Enquiries are accepted by phone (441 225 684 531) or email ([email protected]). We confirm dates in writing.
Rescheduling is possible with at least 7 days’ notice, subject to availability. Shorter notice may reduce options as benches are limited.
Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the issue date unless a different period is stated on the voucher.

Payments and refunds

Payments are taken using standard methods via our chosen provider. We do not store full card details.
Where a refund is appropriate (for example, if a session is cancelled by us), it is returned to the original payment method.

Arrival and timing

Please arrive a little early for a safety brief and tool check. Sessions start on time so everyone gets the full allocation.
If you are delayed, we will still aim to keep the session constructive, though end times generally remain fixed.

Safety and conduct

Wear closed shoes and secure long hair. Avoid loose sleeves and dangling accessories.
Use tools with care and follow tutor guidance. If a tool feels unfamiliar, stop and ask.
We keep a calm working atmosphere. Be considerate to others sharing the bench room.

Children and guests

Under-18s require prior agreement and an adult present. Space is limited; additional guests may be asked to wait outside the bench room.

Accessibility

The main bench room is step-free. Let us know any requirements in advance so we can prepare a suitable layout or seating.

Personal property

Please keep valuables with you. The studio cannot reliably monitor unattended items.

Photography

You are welcome to photograph your own work. If others are in frame, ask permission first.

Materials and outcomes

We help you select practical projects and techniques that suit the wood and time available. Wood is a natural material with variations, so results can differ from sketches. Tutors will offer options if adjustments are needed.
